Oxford Instruments introduces OI Academy training platform for on-demand expertise

New digital learning portal provides flexible upskilling for new and experienced users, available free for a limited time

Oxford Instruments announces its new digital training platform, OI Academy, which provides structured, on-demand courses developed by Oxford Instruments subject matter experts. The OI Academy is designed to support researchers, engineers and instrument operators at every stage of their workflow.

Accessible from any online device, the platform delivers flexible learning opportunities that help users build confidence in microscopy and microanalysis techniques, refresh core principles, and develop their skill set. It features interactive courses designed to support both new users seeking introductory guidance and experienced users looking to reinforce best practices.

On the platform, learning content is organised into guided pathways, allowing users to choose the time and pace of their progress. The Academy’s initial curriculum focuses on energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) training and foundational microanalysis concepts, with further topics to follow.

Access to OI Academy is found through Oi View – an online Oxford Instruments platform which already provides users with real-time system diagnostics and software updates. OI Academy complements existing resources already within Oi View, including Oi Library and Consultations. Together, these capabilities augment Oi View as the key online hub for Oxford Instruments customer support, learning, and operational insight.

"Scientific instrumentation continues to advance rapidly, and so does the need for accessible, high-quality training," says Ed Jackson, Product Manager for Oi View. "The burden to deliver this training is often placed on the equipment managers, alongside their other tasks. OI Academy reduces this burden by providing a structured programme developed by in-house experts that supports both foundational learning and ongoing professional development. Our objective is to help customers extract greater value from their instruments through a deeper understanding of the techniques they use every day."

Registration for Oi View is quick and free of charge and OI Academy content will initially be free as well, providing users with the opportunity to explore courses and directly benefit from Oxford Instruments’ in-house expertise.
