Oxford Instruments Announces First Proteox System Installed in North America at Purdue University

Today Oxford Instruments NanoScience announces the installation of its ProteoxMX system at Purdue University – the first in North America. Oxford Instruments NanoScience is excited to be continuing to support the research team at Purdue University and the Purdue Quantum Science and Engineering Institute in their work.

North America is an important market for Oxford Instruments and today’s announcement marks an important milestone for the business as we look to increase our activity in the market and strengthen our overall engagement with customers and partners alike,” explains Stuart Woods, Managing Director of Oxford Instruments NanoScience. “The work that Professor Banerjee and his team is doing into new quantum phenomenology is truly exciting and we’re looking forward to learning more now that the system is up and running.

The Purdue Quantum Science and Engineering Institute was established at Purdue University in order to foster the development of practical and impactful aspects of quantum science. The institute focuses on discovering and studying new materials and physical quantum systems that will be best suited for integration into tomorrow's technology. It encourages interdisciplinary collaboration leading to the design and realisation of industry-friendly quantum devices with enhanced functionality and performance close to the fundamental limits in order to produce systems based on these devices that will impact a vast community of users.

This installation is an example of the continuing strong relationship between Oxford Instruments NanoScience and Purdue University. Arnab Banerjee, Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Purdue University says: “We’ve been working very closely with the team at Oxford Instruments NanoScience to expand our capabilities and the installation of their latest dilution refrigerator provides a unique capability in how it sweeps the magnetic field and controls the temperature - it will go a long way in enabling us to further our research on quantum materials, especially magnetic materials

Proteox is a next-generation Cryofree™ system that provides a step change in modularity and adaptability for ultra-low temperature experiments in condensed-matter physics and quantum computing industrialisation. With the option to add in our house-manufactured superconducting magnets, the Proteox platform has been developed to provide a single, interchangeable modular solution that can support multiple users and a variety of set-ups or experiments. It also includes remote management software which is integral to the system design, enabling, for example, the system to be managed from anywhere in the world.
