Geotechnologist Symposium 2024

To continue the successful Geotechnologist symposiums hosted over the last 8 years by Oxford University 2015, University of Durham 2017, University of Leeds 2019 and University of Durham 2022 we are organising the next event at Bristol University.

The theme of the workshop will be in a similar vein to previous events including knowledge transfer in the skills and different techniques of thin section preparation, the preparation of high quality, high integrity petrographic sections and surfaces for microscopic analysis, including sample cutting, epoxy resin impregnation both vacuum and pressure, grinding, lapping, bonding, resectioning and polishing for EBSD,EMP, TEM and SEM.

We envisage that the symposium will attract a diverse range of specialists with expertise in Earth & Environmental Sciences, Archaeology, and Civil Engineering from both educational institutions and the private sector. A number of specialist equipment and consumables suppliers will also attend, present and exhibit.

Along with invited speakers and exhibitors, we hope this will contribute to making the day a success, advancing participants’ understanding of the diverse range of products, equipment and techniques available for preparation of a diverse range of materials. It is also a great opportunity to meet with friends and colleagues.

If you are interested in attending and/or giving a presentation please contact sophie.a.edwards@durham.ac.uk
