EDS/EBSD Workshop at USC

Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) is a scanning electron microcopy (SEM) technique that enables a full characterization of a material’s microstructure. By collecting the diffracted electrons from a crystalline tilted sample, the localized phases and crystallographic orientation can be obtained. EBSD can also be used to understand the grains, boundaries, and strains in a material.

This workshop is meant for any researcher and/or students who are interested in EBSD- from newcomers to researchers wanting to learn new tips and tricks or experienced veterans that want to learn the newest in EBSD. This workshop will cover a broad range of topics from basics of electron diffraction, how patterns are indexed, post processing patterns, and practical showcase using Oxford’s EBSD detector and software.
