The Help Video Button – One of the Best kept secrets in AZtec?

15th December 2022 | Author: Simon Burgess

It's nearly Christmas, time to reflect on the year that is almost past. Thinking about this year, one area of feedback I’ve heard a number of times, is that you are not all aware of the help videos that have been added to AZtec over the past 2 years.

So the question posed by my last blog post of 2022 is, have you found the help videos in AZtec? Those who have found them tell us they are very useful to help understand how to operate the latest parts of the software.

If you’ve ever spotted or wondered what the video camera icon is for: it’s not for recording the screen as some have assumed, it’s to launch a video that explains the use of the AZtec step or screen.

Help videos, and the video camera icon, have been around for a number of years in AZtec. However, their common use to aid the understanding of our workflows really came in with the launch of AZtecWave in 2020. You will find the use of help videos and these icons part of the workflow experience in this product.

With the great feedback we received from AZtecWave users, we have begun to add these in other parts of AZtec too. Take for example the live chemical imaging step. This step is constantly being improved as we receive feedback on what is still a very new and revolutionary way of using EDS. To find out what this step is all about and how it works, look for the video camera icon.

This will load the latest help video. For a dynamic real-time operating mode, like live chemical imaging, a video can provide a much better idea of what to do than more traditional text-based help. Here, the video is explaining how to use the 3 imaging modes.

If you haven’t found the help video icon, or watched these short videos, why not look out for them next time you’re using AZtec. We would really like your feedback on how useful you find these videos, and where else in the software you would find a help video useful.

Happy Christmas and I look forward to blogging more about micro- and nano-analysis in 2023.
