KelvinoxMX (Multi experiment system)
The KelvinoxMX is the only dilution refrigerator system that separates the cooling platform from the experimental services.
This modular design allows you to
- Change experimental configurations to suit different measurements or provide for multiple users.
- Increase cooling power by upgrading the dilution unit rather than replace the entire refrigerator.
All KelvinoxMX systems integrate seamlessly with the Integra? family of magnets and cryostats.
The KelvinoxMX components
The Primary Insert. This is common to all systems and includes an innovative stretched 1K condenser design that minimises microphonic noise generation. A sliding seal system permits safe removal and replacement from the main helium cryostat.
Interchangeable Dilution Units can be fitted to the Primary Insert to suit experimental requirements
Finally, a range of Experimental Inserts (Secondary inserts) give the necessary flexibility and versatility for the modern laboratory.
- Basic Experimental Insert. This provides a platform for the user to design a measurement system. There is line-of-sight access to the IVC only.
- High Frequency Experimental Insert. This is equipped with semi-rigid and flexible coaxial lines.
- Rotator Experimental Insert. This is fitted with the co-axial lines as above together with a manual or motor drive Swedish rotator for the study of anisotropic phenomena.
- Versatile Experimental Insert. This also provides a platform with which to customise an experiment. There is line-of-sight access to the mixing chamber and IVC plus a range of wiring options.
- Dipper Insert. This adapts the Versatile Insert to allow it to be used away from the KelvinoxMX in a helium transport or Integra system dewar for measurements above 1.5K.
Changing experimental inserts
This is a simple process carried out at room temperature. The Experimental and Primary inserts are attached to each other using trouble-free straps that ensure optimised thermal links. Seals are made at the top plate by an O-ring and at the IVC by a novel indium seal.
