Optistat®DN liquid nitrogen (LN2) optical spectroscopy cryostat
Sample in exchange gas
The OptistatDN enables optical spectroscopy experiments that require:
- Base temperatures down to 77 K
- Quick sample change via top loading, with sample in exchange gas
- Hold time greater than 15 hours at 77 K, allowing a full working day's experiments to be run without refilling
- Generous f1 radial optical access, with 4 radial windows and 1 axial window
- Ability to integrate into commercial spectrometers
- A compact and low-cost cryostat
- Particularly suitable for low temperature absorption, flourescence and photoluminescence spectroscopy
Operation
The OptistatDN cryostat cools samples using liquid nitrogen from an integral nitrogen reservoir. Liquid nitrogen, stored in the upper part of the cryostat, is gravity fed to a heat exchanger surrounding the sample tube. The sample is then cooled by conduction via a helium or nitrogen exchange gas in the sample space.
Temperature control is achieved by a combination of manual nitrogen flow control and power dissipated in an electrical heater, regulated using an ITC temperature controller.
Options
- Windows
- A wide range of window materials can be fitted to the OptistatDN to meet specific spectroscopy applications
- Special windows with non-parallel faces and anti-reflection coatings are available
- Additional or replacement windows are available via the Oxford Instruments Direct - Cryospares® on-line catalogue
- Temperature control and options
- Choose either a compact benchtop, single-channel ITC601 or the flexible single- or 3-channel ITC503
- High temperature option: The OptistatDN is available with the upper temperature limit extended to 500 K
- Sample holders/rods options: adding to the OptistatDN versatility is the ability to fit several different sample rods and holders:
- Standard sample rod: single sample holder with 10-pin electrical access
- Simple height adjust and rotate sample rod: height adjust range 32 mm with positioning accuracy 0.5 mm, rotate adjust range 360° with positioning accuracy 1°
- Precision height adjust and rotate sample rod: Height adjust range 30 mm with 10 µm resolution, rotate adjust range 360° with 12 minutes resolution
- In addition to the sample positioning and 10-pin electrical access, both height adjust and rotate sample rods feature a double sample holder. For applications such as FTIR, the reference and sample can be measured without having to move the cryostat or exchange samples
- A liquid cuvette sample holder enables liquid sample experiments
- Additional or replacement sample rods are available via the Oxford Instruments Direct - Cryospares® on-line catalogue
