Microstat®HiresII, Helium cryostat for high resolution optical microscopy.

MicrostatHires II

MicrostatHiResII

The Microstat®HiresII is a vacuum loading continuous flow cryostat that benefits from extremely low sample vibration and sample drift at both constant and changing temperatures.

Features and benefits

  • Extremely low sample vibration and drift to maintain high resolution measurements over many hours
  • 2.7 - 500K operating capability
  • A compact, light weight system for reflectance studies (one window) or transmission (two windows)
  • The shortest working distance - only 2.2mm
  • Operation in any orientation
  • Can be fitted with a pillar, see below

Applications

Micro-Raman and Micro-photoluminescence mapping of semiconductor microstructures with sub-micron spatial resolution

Options

  • Windows: A 0.5 mm thick spectrosil B quartz window with 10 mm clear access is fitted as standard. We also offer an option for a 25mm access diameter window with a thickness of 1.5mm.
A wide range of other window materials is also available on request.
  • Transmission experiments require an alternative bottom flange with a second window fitted and a transmission sample holder.
  • Pump options. A simple oil-free vane pump GF4 is supplied for operation to 3.2K. Lower temperatures (to 2.7K) require a single stage rotary pump (EPS40)
  • Temperature controller. Choose either a benchtop, single channel ITC601 or the more flexible single or 3 channel ITC503 (rack mounted)
  • Transfer tubes : All systems are supplied with a low loss transfer tube (LLT600 for horizontal operation or LLT 700 for vertical operation) for minimum helium consumption. Note: an automated  needle valve can be fitted to the LLT to allow automation of the helium flow regulation and optimisation of the  helium consumption.

The transfer tube can be fitted with a horizontal or vertical entry arm.

  •  The MicrostatHiresII can also be retrofitted with a pillar for easy integration in an electromagnet. See picture below. The standard cap and the pillar are interchangeable.

Note : the MicrostatHiresII may also be integrated in a 5T superconducting magnet for magneto-optical studies see product page on the MicrostatBT or MicrostatMO.
