Superconducting Technology
OST remains a pioneer in the development and commercial supply of superconducting wire and cable. For more than twenty-five years we have been a world leading manufacturer of niobium-titanium and niobium-tin superconductors. Today we produce more than 500 tons annually for a wide range of magnet applications, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, industrial processing, subatomic particle accelerators, and fusion energy research.

Our customers include government agencies with primary applications in fusion energy and high energy physics, as well as private industries around the world for medical, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications. We have earned the leading market share in commercial superconductor markets by delivering quality products on reliable schedules with superior technical performance.
OST maintains an active development program for both low and high temperature superconductors. The LTS effort is primarily directed towards maintaining our leading position in NbTi conductors, and towards increasing the current density in Nb3Sn conductors at very high fields. The HTS effort is directed towards ultra high field magnets.
